Located on Tomis Boulevard in Constanța, Romania, and standing as one of the city’s most important historical symbols, the Hunchiar Mosque (Geamia Hunchiar) is being carried into the future with the expertise of Alkazan İnşaat. Built during the reign of Sultan Abdulaziz in 1869 for Turks settling in the region after the Crimean War, this rare masterpiece is one of the most elegant representatives of Ottoman civil architecture and art in the region. Constructed with Dobruja ashlar stones taken from an Ottoman bridge destroyed in 1828, the mosque holds a crucial place in the city’s cultural memory with its centuries-old historical heritage and unique oriental decorations.

Having struggled to survive for over a century, including the bombardments during World War II, the Hunchiar Mosque is regaining its former glory through our comprehensive restoration project, prepared with strict adherence to its original form.
